Update on my diet

Sorry, no pics... meals are good but boring. I am getting the hang of this low carb thing and it is not so bad. There really are a lot of good foods that I love that I can eat. The strangest thing is that my craving for sweets has gone away and I am not willing to kill for pasta. The diet is also working. I am down almost 4 lbs which is slow but fine. I eat at least one salad a day but filled with goodies so it is not bland. I am also finding that I am eating fewer calories per day. I suspect that my weight loss will pick up a bit. I have only been getting on the treadmill every other day, but I will add some extra days this week. Since I don't feel like I am starving myself, I have stopped whining. I don't have to suck my gut in to get my pants closed, but I do want to go down at least one size since I went up 2! I may even aim for down 2. What I really want to do is find a way of eating that keeps my weight off but allows me to splurge every once in a while.

Sherry, Congratulations on your great dieting start! 4 lbs is terrific! I began losing weight back in October. I take it slow since I think that's the best way to lose weight. I've lost 30 lbs already, which was my original goal, but I think I'm going for 5 more. I view this as a "lifestyle" change rather than a diet and I have found that there is definitely room to splurge every now and then. I've even found that sometimes just a bite of a "forbidden" food is enough to satisfy me. Anyway, I wish you good luck in your endeavor!

Congrats on your loss. I, too, have been losing some weight. I started around mid to late May and while I don't know how much I've lost in pounds, I know I have lost as I can now wear some pants that before I couldn't even close the snap on. I started eating more whole foods, a.k.a. less processed foods and smaller meals more often. While I don't adhere to it strictly, since hubby isn't on a diet, I am still amazed at how it has changed my eating habits and how I feel.

I wish I had the self-discipline to forego carbs. Re: your question about how to maintain and still splurge - one blog I read says they go carb free during the week and eat what they want on the weekend. Congratulations on your success so far.
