Givaway!

OK folks, today is the start of the giveaway for the mouthwatering copy of "Masters Art Quilts, vol 2".
There is a twist to this one though. ... You need to leave a comment ON THIS POST about a different post on my blog. Since you are here anyway, you might as well look around :-). I will draw a random name on Saturday.
Good luck! And don't forget to make sure there is some way for me to contact you if you are the lucky winner. If there is NO email address associated with your name I cannot find you.

Love the pinked edges in your 7/27 post. That's an option I hadn't seen before. Thanks for the inspiration.

Try to keep up The healthy eating, even after you reached your goal. I don't eat à lot of carbs , because of Diabetes, i have to count them for my insuline injections. I hate injecting big amounts of that stuff.
It Will not be too difficult once you allow yourself some really Nice things, like a pièce of chocolate with your coffee.

Cute grandson you have. Enjoy him!

Sorry to be so dense, but you mention Shibori on your December 4, 2008 entry - I'm not exactly sure what that is. Do you have any exeplary sites for learning how to dye fabrics. I tried "Sky Dyes" and didn't have that much success with the book. Need a tutorial, preferably YouTube. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to win! Nice blogs!

I, too, am a fan of Elizabeth Busch's work. I've taken two workshops from her and learned something meaningful from each.

I met up with my sisters this summer in Arizona. Two live there and my sister from NJ was not looking forward to returning. At least in AZ they are prepared for the heat when it hits! Cute grand-baby. Thanks for the give-away.

Thanks for raffling the book. I enjoyed reading about your hiking adventure in Italy and how exhausting it was. Also loved the shot of the aquarium.

Your grandson gave me a smile, such a cutie and such a fun age, when they are usually, always happy. Those sea scallops made me hungry, now I will have to make some this week;)

August 17th is OUR anniversary. That third weekend in August is a good one. We just got to 20 years.

Thanks for the opportunity to win the book. It looks like several evenings lounging on the couch with a nice glass of wine. :)

I liked Lucy helping at the computer and the cage lift. I also looked through your gallery of quilts and especially like Sunflowers and Arizona Sunset I. I liked the photo from the Palm but could not figure out where the gallery was to see what the plant was. It is a really interesting plant. Thanks for the opportunity to enter!!

I Love the grandson pics, and as for stitching scrap strips together... I can Never just pull from a bag or pile and use what I randomly grab... I sort my scraps and strips by color families...

I also love the teaser pics from the book!

my all time favorite posts here was your journal entries of your trip to India. would love to be part of your giveaway.

Oh dear. I wrote a long post about your randomness post, and it seems to have been rejected by cyberspace. Here's the gist of what I've been thinking since I saw your not-quite-random strips: being truly random is hard for people, and for some more than others. I am never comfortable laying out a scrappy quilt and letting the pieces remain in place; I'm always tweaking, and seeing relationships that need to be avoided (not that red by the other one, not that print so close to its match in another colorway). I've read suggestions that one place strips in a brown bag and pull them out, randomly, and then piece them together without censoring. I haven't ever gone near that idea, but when I consider it, I'm torn between the feeling that it would be horrifying and the twinge that says it would be very liberating. So maybe someday. Thanks for a small note that was very thought-provoking, and for the giveaway.

Since I am new to your blog, I thought it would be fun to go all the way back to the beginning and read your first posts. It was! Dyeing is addicting, isn't it? Sadly, none of the photos were showing, but that's okay - I can use my imagination! Crossing my fingers I am a winner!

Tawney said...

Your diet actually looks lucious to me. It's terrific to read about your progress - keep it up and it will become habit forming.

I love the way the quilting works in 'Time Warp' - and, no I can't really close my eyes, pick a piece and stick with it when I think the combination isn't 'good enough'.

Gosh, you have been everywhere. I love the posts of India. Such beautiful fabrics. There is a lot to see here. I liked your dyed socks too.

Love the fabrics you picked out for "Random or not", the purple batiks and black/white. Hope to see the quilt soon. Pick me for the book drawing!

Isn't it great being a grandma? I am a new grandma as well and I'm in love with him and being one as well. Read also that you have been sick recently. Hope your medicine is working and you're feeling like yourself soon.

I'm loving this book tour. Hearing about all the eye candy inside the book and finding new blogs to follow!

Thanks for the giveaway and a chance to win.

you did an older post on the anxiety of thread painting and fmqing - I thought I was the only one. I swear if I drank - I would have to have a drink before I finally chose what I was going to do. Finally - my 13 year old me - Okay Mom - just put your big girl panties on and do it already LOL!

I love the Time Warp piece... when i fist saw it, I thought of rock guitar. The straight line quilting lines made me think of this initially, but the dancing background enforced that idea.

I hope to win this book, but if not, I will probably buy it! Sounds wonderful!

I see I am not the only one who can't just pull the next piece out of the bag and sew it. As quilters we want to use our designer's eye. Thanks for the giveaway book; I'll keep fingers crossed.

I so enjoyed reading all your posts. I, too, am often on a diet but unlike you, I have no one to share it with as my husband is the ultimate ectomorph-tall & skinny-who eats smoothies or bowls of ice cream every night. I have lived with this for 46 years so am somewhat immune to it by now but having the chips and Oreos and candy bars around can tempt me at times.
Like you, I was also an interior designer for many years and have retired to the ranch and to quilting. I wish I were more in touch with my artistic side when it comes to quilting. I am so busy making quilts for my children and grandchildren that I seem to be a rule follower more of the time! Currently I am working on a huge lone star set on point for my daughter and a cute baby quilt for my 1.5 yr. old grandson; it is a jungle print fussy cut with a turquoise background with lime dots and red borders!
Love your blog because we have so much in common...will continue to follow it and friend you on Facebook! Take care!

Congratulations on reaching the halfway point on your weight-loss program! Your dinner photos are inspiring as I continue my own weight-loss program following knee surgery. One extra pound relates to something like 10 extra pounds of force on the knee according to one source!

Thank you for the opportunity to win a copy of the book and thanks for posting so many beautiful pictures from it.

PS. Your grandson is a real cutie!

I scrolled down your blog page and found your Time Warp piece from Rayna's class. I especially like the quilting pattern and feel it gives it a needed structure. I was also glad to read your review of the QN book-that's always a good Christmas present to ask for.
