Playing with new iphone 4 camera

I treated myself to the new iphone 4  a few weeks ago when it came out. I can't say that I was totally trouble free with the first one but I was able to exchange it for a new one and this one works PERFECTLY.
The last couple of days I have been playing around with the camera. I was not happy with the camera on the old 3G but this one rocks! I also downloaded an app called Camera+ which gives me some other options and I have been having some fun. Here are a few of the photos I have taken in the last couple of days. I have done nothing to these images. I am impressed.

Quiltart 15

One of the better decisions in my life was to join the QuiltArt list a few years ago. I had no desire to do traditional quilting but I love working with fabric and this group really pushes the envelope and encourages creativity and thinking out of your box. They recently celebrated their 15th year with a Quinceanera challenge. We were to make a 15"x15" fiber piece celebrating QA. I decided to step out of my box and make a piece based on some photographs that were taken by a friend of mine. I have in mind to do a larger piece based on cave and rock art in the future and this was sort of a way for me to get my toes wet and see if I could actually do something like this. This idea is still percolating in my brain and maybe one day it will see the light of day. In the meantime, here is the piece I made for this challenge.

Painted Sandals

These started life as a pair of very boring black sandals that I rarely wore.. not ever sure what possessed me to buy them several years ago. They have been languishing in the bottom of my closet and were about to go into the give away pile when I read a tutorial by Lyric Montgomery Kinard as part of the QuiltArt list Tsunami tutorial postings. There were some other wonderful posts on painted shoes as well and these are a composite of all of them. I didn't have some "ingredients" at hand so used what I had. I am pretty happy with the results and will most definitely get a lot of use out of these now. They are in my favorite summer colors. I used Stuart Gill paints... forgot to gesso first :-( ... let them sit out in the hot sun here (about 110 degrees) to cure and then coated them with Matte Medium. Wish I had some other shoes to jazz up!
